LONDON show

Okay so the 'secret' show has sold out now. Now, that's kinda good news and bad news. The good is obvious but the bad is that we had never confirmed it in the first place, as you know, because we are still tracking the record.
There are talks on doing a second show the night before as demand is quite high. Man it'll be like ULU 2001 all over again. The other option would be to move it to the Astoria. Man that'll be like Astoria 2002 all over again. Anyways, we're doing our best right now to get things moving. We'll keep you posted.
We'd love to hear your suggestions for support and song requests/set list for which ever gig we do perform. Post via 'comments' below...

yeah the open would be a cool support. though for the ultimate night (in my humble opinion) oceansize would be amazing. full on two of the best bands around in the same night.

song wise - ode to the red queen would be absolubtely stunning as i love that song :D. my first ever experience with 7/4 :P hehe.

good luck with it anyhoo and i'll try and get down

Happylife for me would be cool support!

As for songs, Cemented Shoes, Infintile, Losing Touch, All of Me? possibly, would be worth the entrance fee alone. But as many new songs as you can squeeze in!

Bit of a cheeky question for Som but if you get any time could you take some give us a little insight into how you get that MV sound. Like what pedal/amp set up do you have etc. That would rock!

Just play ANYTHING and it'll be awesome.

Why not move it to the Astoria on the weekend - it would be an amazing comeback.

The Academy secret gig was a great idea, but as it was leaked so early you've now got the masses to please.

ULU 2001 was one of the greatest gigs ever though...

hey.. whoever suggested killing moon is spot on - they're truly fantastic. 65 days of static would be good too, really awesome and inventive noisy guitary-electronic band.

go for the astoria...not the best venue in the world, but more inclusive for everyone, and less sterile than the islington academy.

*Cemented Shoes
*Vapour Trails
*Ode to the Red Queen
*Oh Father
+ new ones!

As for support, I'd go with:

MONO (www.mono-44.com) - loud japanese instrumentalists

and/or

AmusementParksOnFire (www.amusementparksonfire.com) - shoe-gazing youngsters

Rude I know but check out my band NarcissisM, music at http://www.myspace.com/narcissism
We've progressed a fair bit towards a bit more experimental since this recording, but MV are a big influence.

Killing Moon was my idea :)

But I think Ariel X or Septembre would compliment MV's sound.

I've seen Ariel X play twice now....they remind me of Placebo, which is good.

If you could get Oceansize for support, that would be totally amazing

As for songs - I personally would like to see alpha waves / always your way opening the show perhaps - and also losing touch, grounded, cemented shoes, wait a minute, moodswings and it came crashing - of course whatever you play it will be fantastic ;)

How about playing a few shows in the North of England sometime soon! Im having withdrawal symptoms and need to fill a "no decent bands ever tour" void!

hm - set list. You don't have that many songs, so can't be that hard to figure out. Hearing some new ones would be nice though. It'd be a whole different MV gig to those we've heard before....

Support.
I'd like to say Seafood, but have this feeling they might decline the offer.
Help She Can't Swim to open. And then someone really shit afterwards.
Or just get some tramp and shoot him up first, give him some kids instruments, and sit back.....

[I promise to be nice, behave and generally friendly. Honest.]

For the set list I'd like to hear as many new songs as possible. The song that "choon" clip is from had better be played! But I'm way more excited about hearing new stuff than old, I'd like to see a "new" set with just the classics off finelines.
As for support, there's an amazing up and coming band from Hertfordshire called Insomnia who'd fit in perfectly as MV support. There are some old tracks of theirs on their website, www.insomniamusic.net

support act should be Pitchblend, on the same label as Septembre, they toured with Ariel-x but are waaaaaay more suited to their sound. Does anyone know who MV's management company is these days?

no offence but oceansize are shite! reuben are quite good, all they ever do is fuckin support people, and they rock.happylife suck too,as do seafood.mew is an excellent suggestion coz their fuckin halfway decent.

Don't care who supports you as long as you play! I'm a newcomer to MV - a mate recommended them to me this year (yes, it's still 2004) and Finelines is now one of my favourite albums. Naturally, I will love said mate forever - even though he's not coming to the gig after me buying him a ticket.

Songs to definitely include are Cemented Shoes, Ode To The Red Queen and Falling Off The Floor - my faves!
